When we first wrote to you in 2019, our expectation was to meet in Copenhagen in 2020 to discuss key questions surrounding evaluation within a very uncertain and complex context. That conference was first postponed and later redesigned as an online, event which took place in early September this year. The online event allowed us to come together and ponder on our roles as evaluators and citizens of a world facing additional challenges brought on by the pandemic. The presentations, discussions and engagements during our online event in September made clear both the relevance of our work, but also the importance of facilitating opportunities for us to share our views, perspectives and experiences as a way to find solutions to present challenges.
In 2019 we introduced a series of new presentation modalities which were reflected in our last call. We were inspired by both the response and the materialisation of these during the September event. We have also had the opportunity to reflect on ways that we may best serve our community. We are, therefore, pleased to inform you that we have added three additional modalities: Meet the authors, Meet the evaluation and Sparking discussion:
Meet the authors: These sessions are intended to provide an opportunity for the audience to engage directly with authors and discuss recent contributions to the literature.
Meet the evaluation: These sessions are intended to provide an opportunity for complex evaluations to be presented and discussed from the perspective of the evaluators who conducted the assignment, the commissioners and users of the evaluation.
Sparking discussion: These sessions are designed to instigate discussion on key issues and provide an opportunity for important themes to be presented from multiple perspectives.
